What is a prop firm?
A proprietary trading firm sells an evaluation: you pay a fee, trade a simulated account under the firm's rules, and if you hit the profit target without breaking a loss limit you move to a funded account and keep a share of the profits. Most funded accounts are also simulated; the firm pays you from its own money.
How much does a prop firm cost?
You pay for the evaluation, either once or monthly, and some firms add an activation fee when you pass or a reset fee if you break a rule. The total depends on the program, the account size and how many attempts you need. Every program's fees are on its firm page, and the All-in Cost tool adds them up for your own number of attempts.
How much does a $50,000 funded account cost?
A 50K futures evaluation has a median list price of about $218 as a one-time fee, or $172 a month on monthly plans, across 21 fully priced programs (last reviewed Oct 2, 2026). Counting a second attempt and any activation fee, the median All-in Cost is $322 one-time or $364 on monthly plans. Instant funding at 50K, which skips the evaluation, costs $398 to $679. Discount codes published by the firms often lower these prices. See what a prop firm costs.
Are prop firms legit?
A prop firm is a real business with real terms, but every firm's rules are different and they change. Before you pay, read the firm's own rules page, check how drawdown, daily limits and payouts work, and make sure you're allowed to sign up from your country. Each firm page here links to the firm's own sources so you can check every rule yourself.
Do prop firms actually pay out?
Payouts are paid by the firm under its own rules: you have to meet its profit split, schedule, minimums and consistency terms first. Several firms publish their own totals, such as Apex Trader Funding ($874.14M total compensation to customers since 2022), FundedNext Futures ($387.5M+ total rewarded), Goat Funded Futures ($29M+ in payouts across the brand), as each firm reports them. Each firm page lists its payout rules, program by program.
Are prop firm accounts real money?
Evaluations are always simulated, and at many firms the funded account is simulated too. Payouts are still real money, paid by the firm under its contract with you. See simulated vs live funded accounts.
Which prop firm is best?
It depends on how you trade. A scalper who never holds overnight cares about daily loss limits and consistency rules; a swing trader cares about drawdown type and overnight holding. Prop Firm Duel lists every program's published rules so you can filter by the ones that matter to you. Read the firm's own terms before buying.
What are the most popular prop firms?
The directory lists every firm A to Z, including well-known names such as Apex Trader Funding, Lucid Trading, My Funded Futures, Topstep, Tradeify, with each program's rules side by side. See every firm.
How do I choose a prop firm?
Start with how you trade, not with the firm. Pick your market and account size, then check the drawdown type, daily loss limit, consistency rule and payout rules against your own trading. The board's filters and the firm lists sort every program by those rules.
What is the difference between futures, forex, crypto and stock prop firms?
The market you trade, and with it the rules. Futures firms count contracts and use end-of-day or intraday trailing drawdowns. Forex firms use phases, leverage and percentage targets. Crypto firms trade perpetual futures with leverage caps. Stock firms sell buying power and add rules like minimum hold times. Prop Firm Duel lists each firm's rules in its own terms.
Are the discount codes real?
Every code is one the firm published itself, shown with its terms, its source and its end date. Codes hide automatically when they expire.
Where do the numbers on this site come from?
From each firm's own published terms, pricing page and help center, reviewed by a person. Every firm page shows the date it was last reviewed and links to every page we used. A dash means we haven't confirmed that value yet; we never guess.
Do firms pay to be listed?
No. Listing is free for every firm. Firms can also partner with us, for example through affiliate programs, sponsorships or featured spots, and anything paid is clearly labeled. Either way, a firm's rules and prices always come from its own published terms.
How often is the data updated?
Each firm is re-reviewed when its rules change or when a reader or the firm sends a correction, and every firm page shows the date it was last reviewed.
