**A prop firm reset fee is the price to restart an evaluation after you break a rule.** It puts your account back to its starting balance, usually for less than a new evaluation. Among 50K futures programs we track that publish one, the median reset was $95.

## Key takeaways

- A reset returns your evaluation to its starting balance and clears your progress.
- 50K reset fees in our data ranged from $35 to $184, with a median of $95.
- 4 of the 50K futures programs we track don't offer resets at all.
- If a reset costs close to a new evaluation, buying new may be the same deal.

## What is a prop firm reset?

A reset restarts your evaluation from the beginning. Your balance returns to the starting amount, your drawdown floor resets, and any days already traded no longer count. Firms offer it because most traders who break a rule want to try again, and a reset is quicker and usually cheaper than buying a new evaluation.

On monthly programs, a reset may also restart your billing cycle, so check what it does to your subscription date.

## How much does a reset cost?

When we checked 50K futures programs on September 26 and 27, 2026, 17 published a reset price. The median was $95, and the range ran from $35 to about $184\. Four programs didn't offer resets at all, which means buying a new evaluation is the only way to try again.

Compare the reset price with the evaluation price. On a program with a $214 evaluation and a $95 reset, each retry costs well under half the original price.

## How resets change your total cost

Resets are where a prop firm's real price shows up. Here's the same 50K program under three outcomes:

| Outcome | Evaluation | Resets | Total |
| ------------------- | ---------- | ------ | ----- |
| Pass first try | $214 | $0 | $214 |
| Pass after 1 reset | $214 | $95 | $309 |
| Pass after 3 resets | $214 | $285 | $499 |

A program with a cheaper evaluation but a pricier reset can end up costing more if you need several tries. The [All-in Cost tool](https://www.propfirmduel.com/all-in-cost/) models this for any program.

## When should you reset instead of starting over?

Reset when the rules still suit you and the reset is clearly cheaper than a new evaluation. Consider switching programs if you keep breaking the same rule, since paying to repeat a mismatch rarely ends well. ## Common questions

### Does a reset keep my trading days?

Usually not. A reset clears your progress, including trading days and profit.

### Can I reset a funded account?

Rarely. Resets usually apply to evaluations. A lost funded account normally means starting a new evaluation.

### Do discount codes work on resets?

Sometimes. Many codes apply only to the evaluation. See [prop firm discount codes](https://www.propfirmduel.com/prop-firm-discount-codes/), and for every fee in one place, [how much a prop firm costs](https://www.propfirmduel.com/how-much-does-a-prop-firm-cost/).

## How we got these numbers

Figures come from each firm's own pricing and help pages, reviewed by a person on September 26–27, 2026\. Confirm current prices on the firm's site. See our [methodology](https://www.propfirmduel.com/methodology/).
