The 9 EMA and 21 EMA.

2What's the trigger?

A candle closes with the 9 EMA above the 21 EMA after the previous closed candle had it below (and the reverse for shorts).

3Where is it wrong?

Below the lowest low of the last 5 closed candles.

4Where does it end?

2R, or earlier when the opposite crossover closes.

## What it means

When a fast moving average crosses above a slow one, momentum has turned up. This is one of the oldest trend signals: follow the cross, exit on the opposite cross.

## How it is confirmed without repainting

The cross only counts on a closed candle. A cross that appears and disappears mid-candle is ignored.

## When it fails

Price chops sideways and the averages cross back and forth. Works poorly in ranges.
