Example drawing, not live market data.

1Where's the level?

The high and low of the first 15 minutes after 9:30 ET (5 and 30 minutes are common variations).

2What's the trigger?

Between 9:45 and 11:30 ET, a candle closes above the range high (long) or below the range low (short). Two attempts per day at most.

3Where is it wrong?

The opposite side of the range, or the middle of the range if the range is wide.

4Where does it end?

2R, and flat at 11:30 ET if neither the target nor the stop is hit.

## What it means

The first minutes after the open set the day's early battle lines. Mark the high and low of the opening range, then follow price when it closes outside that range.

## How it is confirmed without repainting

The range is final only when its last candle closes at 9:45 ET. Nothing is drawn as final before then.

## When it fails

Price closes back inside the range, or the range is unusually wide compared with recent days.
